Day three was the day we had all been waiting for, the day for the Total Eclipse! This entire trip was solely planned out just to see the Solar Eclipse and we couldn’t have been more than thrilled to have finally been able to witness such a miraculous event in history. The Solar Eclipse is a moment and experience some people only see once in their life time. The day had come for the moon to fall in love with the sun. We had our NASA approved glasses ready for viewing, tripod packed, picnic food and drinks in order all to enjoy this event. We drove three hours from our hotel in Rapid City to Glendo, WY just a little South of Casper where a numerous amount of people were heading. We drove miles and miles through traffic all heading in the same direction, passing many people along the way that were already set up waiting to view the eclipse. We finally made it to our perfect spot where we would witness totality. To experience the Eclipse is one thing but to experience it in totality is really where a miracle happens. The moment the moon covers the sun and casts its shadow across the land is indescribable. The emotions that fill you as watching this is unreal, I felt like I was lost in time in a dream. The sun was setting all around me, colors just dancing across the entire sky until finally it faded into complete darkness. Stars twinkled up in the sky as the earth experienced just a couple minutes of being blanketed by the moon. The suns corona was completely visible beyond the ring of the moon. It blazed in the sky like nothing I have ever seen before and then before I knew it, the world was awakening again. The sun was rising all around me as we were being wrapped back up in the warmth of the sun. If you ever have the opportunity to experience this bucket list and once in a life time moment, I would take up the opportunity in a heart beat. I don’t think anything will ever compare to the feelings created by witnessing totality on this memorable August day.
