Hey everyone! It is finally the first official day of summer! Can you believe it?! I thought it was never going to come after that brutal long winter we had. There are so many fun and exciting things I can’t wait to do this summer. If any of you are like me, I love to create a bucket list of all the things I would like to do and accomplish over the season. If you guys are interested, let me know in the comments below if you would like to see my summer bucket list.
One of the big things on my bucket list this year is just wanting to do more camping and exploring. I love getting out of town and just going somewhere I have never been before and see something new. I also absolutely love going to cabins, cabins are my version of heaven. A home away from home perfectly nestled in the woods on a lake with a nice view. I hope to actually own a cabin of my own someday but until then, I love going to visit different ones within driving distance.
I recently got the opportunity to go up the gun flint trail here in Minnesota to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area where Ed and I stayed at the lovely Seagull cabins right on Seagull lake. We spontaneously drove up to Grand Marais and decided to take it one step further by traveling all the way up the Gun Flint trail where we were fortunate enough to find this little treasure to stay in. We laughed at how many people we called were telling us that most people book these a little more in advanced. Lol We were taking a risk but boy did it pay off!
Such a beautiful view of the lake! We loved every minute of it and Miley did as well haha We did lots of fishing and also just enjoyed the time in the cabin as well when it was raining. One of the highlights of the trip was getting to see a Moose for my very first time. Crazy to think I’ve lived in Minnesota my whole life and never seen a moose! On our way back we still toured Grand Marais by walking along the beach, checking out the shops and eating and having a few at the local Voyager Brewing Company. We ordered a flight and this amazing picnic arrangement of meats, cheeses, breads and crackers. It was all super delicious!
We can’t wait to come back again soon and maybe try actually going around on a canoe next time! That was one thing we really wished we could have done but the weather just wasn’t in our favor. We sure did make the best of it though! Let me know if you guys have ever been up the Gun Flint Trail and what your favorite experiences were or any tips you might have for us for next time!
Xoxo
