February, the month of love. Now that I am engaged, Valentines Day got a whole lot sweeter to enjoy. I love getting to spend the day with my special someone who I get to call my forever! It is still so surreal to me sometimes as we are inching closer to our wedding date. eeek! So much excitement and joy for our future that lies ahead.
For Christmas this year I gifted Ed and I a weekend trip to Lutsen! Last year I gave him/us a weekend getaway to the cities to see his first Wild game as well as tour the ice castles in Stillwater, MN. I planned it around Valentines Day weekend so that we could have a nice time to ourselves already good to go. We both loved the weekend so much that I had to do something similar this year but instead of heading south, we headed further north. A trip to the mountains (the only ones in Minnesota haha) was much needed. We stayed in Grand Marais, MN at the Best Western Plus Hotel and suites along the shores of Lake Superior. We had a beautiful room that included a King size bed, jacuzzi and the most amazing view of the lake. Ed and I were so estatic.

Who doesn’t love a classic stay at a ski resort?! It is filled with so much fun and coziness all at the same time. It just screams winter to me and so I couldn’t help but love putting on some winter style and share with you all. Cozy nordic sweaters, hats, mittens, boots, you know the works. Ed and I explored all the trails had to offer and it was the perfect winter wonderland! I felt like I was inside my very own snow globe.

We were so pumped for this weekend getaway but unfortunately life doesn’t always go perfectly as planned….Ed had a little accident a couple weeks prior to us going on the trip where he broke his collarbone. We were unable to use our lift tickets to actually ski and snowboard as planned but luckily they are able to be used any time throughout the season! We made the best of our trip though and I actually loved getting to check everything out to prepare ourselves for when we do ride the slopes for real. Lutsen is HUGE and I can easily see ourselves getting lost haha We enjoyed every view we possible could set our eyes on from going up the gondola to seeing the amazing horizon of the lake and trees below us. It was absolutely breathtaking! Now we are fortunate enough to get to experience it all over again soon!

One of the perks of this unexpected change to our plans was that everything we did was completely spontaneous. We literally had no agenda or schedule and got to adventure wherever our hearts desired. Part of our adventuring led us up the Gun Flint Trail where we came across the cutest and coziest of cabin resorts. We hiked the trails around there in search of a moose or other nature critters but no such luck.

After long days of exploring, Ed and I enjoyed the perks our hotel and lodging had to offer. We relaxed in the hot tub and our jacuzzi in our room. We had a beautiful dinner at the Gun Flint Tavern and then snuggled up to a nice warm cup of coco. We couldn’t have asked for a better time. Our accommodations were amazing and we can’t wait to go back soon!
