Its that time of year again! Fairs are back in town and I gotta say the kid at heart comes out the most in me at the fair. Everything about county fairs brings back sweet memories of being a kid again. The thrill of rides, the fun impossible to win games, the animal barns, 4-h, and of course the delicious greasy food. There is something for everyone at the fair no matter how old you are.
Ed and I were excited to take the kids to the Head of the Lakes fair over in superior, WI. It’s just a short drive over the bridge from Duluth. We decided to go on Thursday night and got the advantage of having less of a crowd so shorter lines for getting to experience everything. The kids loved going on all the rides over and over again. The workers were all extremely nice! Some of the rides required more tickets and at the end when the kids only had a couple left, they were nice enough to still let them on. Love seeing such good hearted people out in the world, made our day!

One of my all time favorite rides is the Ferris wheel. It’s nothing fast and thrilling like I normally like going on but what I truly love about it is just how classic it is. It’s such a great way to watch the sunset over the entire fair grounds and it’s such an excitement getting to overlook the whole place. The best time to go is right before sundown where you can watch the sky glow as all the rides begin to light up the town as well. I think this is also the perfect ride for those of you who might not like rides at all. This is one of those rides that is easy going and fun for all.
Just walking into the fair, your mouth can’t help but water for all the amazing greasy delicious food. I have such a hard time deciding on what to eat, I feel like I have to try it all! Corndogs, juros, cheese curds, burgers, fries, mini donuts and more! It’s all great and you really can’t go wrong when choosing. I decided to choose the sweet treat of cotton candy on this fair night and it couldn’t have been more fitting and perfect when the sun set and created a cotton candy sky. Absolutely love the colors and of course letting the sugary fluff dissolve in your mouth. Anyone getting hungry yet? Haha
We had a great time and enjoyed every minute of our evening! We got to watch some of the animal auctions where the kids kept begging us if we could buy a pig haha We walked through all the animal barns checking out the horses, cows, sheep, pigs, chickens and rabbits. There is a petting zoo and 4-h exhibit to check out as well. Ed and I even decided to go back Friday night to check out the races which was a great time as well and the fair was even more packed then! Very fun time overall and can’t wait to go to more fairs this summer. What are some of your favorite fair memories? Have any of you never been to a fair but would love to go?! Let me know in the comments below, I love hearing from you all!
See you at the fair!
xoxo
